How fees work

What you pay depends on how you pay. Each answer is here in plain words, and the front desk goes through yours before your first visit.

  • Insurance we work with

We bill many kinds of plans for physical therapy evaluations and treatment visits. The list is by type of plan, not by company, and the front desk checks your plan card before you come in.

    • Most commercial plans

    • Medicare

    • Medicaid

    • Workers' compensation

    • Auto injury coverage

  • If you pay yourself

A movement screen or a bike fit on its own is not billed to a plan, so you pay for it yourself. What sets the fee is the length of the visit and who sees you. We tell you before you book, and we have a few reduced-fee spots each month for people who need them.

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, we give you a written estimate before your visit: what we expect it to cost and what it includes. This is your right under federal law. If a bill comes in $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it.

  • Checking your benefits

The front desk checks your benefits and calls you with what they find before your first visit. Your plan has the final say on what it pays. Your copay, deductible and coinsurance are set by your plan.

  • What the first visit includes

A physical therapist sees you for about an hour. They listen, examine you, explain what they find and agree on a plan with you. They also explain the risks and your choices. What happens after that is decided with you, not on day one.

Questions about paying

Does my plan cover this, and do you take Medicare?

We bill many kinds of plans for evaluations and treatment visits, including most commercial plans, Medicare, Medicaid, workers' compensation and auto injury coverage. Your plan decides what it pays. We check your benefits and call you before your first visit.

Why isn't a bike fit billed to my plan?

A bike fit and a movement screen are not physical therapy evaluations, so plans generally do not pay for them. You pay for them yourself, and we give you an estimate in writing before you book.

Do you treat work or auto injuries?

Yes. If you were hurt in a crash or at work, get emergency care first. Tell us who your adjuster is. Your state decides who may direct your care. We explain how your bills are handled before you start.
