Its own service

Bike fit and movement screen

A physical therapist watches you stand, squat, step, reach and pedal, then sets up your bike around what they see. It is its own visit, and it is for riders who want to know how they move.

Is this for you?

This care is for you if

  • You ride and feel fine, and you want a look before the season

A screen shows what stands out while there is still time to work on it.

  • Your knees, low back, neck or hands complain on long rides

We look at how you sit, how you move and how the bike is set up, together.

  • You have a new bike, new shoes or new pedals

A change in setup changes how your body meets the bike.

  • You are coming back to riding after time off

We check how you move now, and what to build before the long rides.

A visit

What a visit looks like

A first visit is about an hour with a physical therapist.

  1. 01

Step 1: Tell us how you ride

What you ride, how far, how often and what you want to do more of.

  2. 02

Step 2: Move on the floor first

Squat, step down, hop, balance on one leg and reach. We watch how your hips, knees, back and shoulders share the work.

  3. 03

Step 3: Then pedal on a trainer

We look at your saddle, cleats and bars, and at what your hips, knees and back do as you pedal.

  4. 04

Step 4: Leave with a written list

What stood out, what we changed on the bike, what to practice, and whether an evaluation makes sense.

What we do

How we work with you

  • Movement screen

Tests of strength, balance, range and control, chosen for riders.

  • Bike fit

Saddle height and position, cleats, reach and bar height, adjusted one thing at a time so we know what helped.

  • A written report

A plain list for you and, if you like, for your coach or your bike shop.

Good to know

What decides how many visits

A screen is a stand-alone visit. If we find something that needs treatment, we say so, and that starts with an evaluation. How many visits that takes depends on what we find, how long it has been going on and what you want to get back to.

Who treats you

A physical therapist leads every screen and every fit. Gaurav Karki leads most of them. Each of our therapists holds a Vermont license, and the lines are on the team page and in the footer.

Meet the team

How it is paid for

A screen and a bike fit are paid for by you and are not billed to a plan. We give you an estimate in writing before you book. An evaluation, if you need one, is billed to your plan when it covers physical therapy.

How fees work

When to see a doctor first or call 911

See a doctor first if pain started after a crash or a fall, if an arm or leg is numb or weak, or if pain wakes you at night. Tell us if pain is new and getting worse. Call 911 for chest pain, trouble breathing, or a head injury with confusion or a loss of consciousness.

Questions

A few questions about this care

Do I bring my bike?

Yes, if you can. Bring the shoes and shorts you ride in. If your bike will not fit in the car, tell us and we will plan the screen around the floor tests.

Will a bike fit fix my pain?

We cannot promise a result. A fit changes how your body meets the bike. We tell you what we changed and why, and what to watch for on your next rides.

Do you fit every kind of bike?

We fit road, gravel and mountain bikes on a trainer. If you ride something unusual, call and ask.

Want a look before the season?

Ask for the movement screen, and tell us what you ride.
